Medical error or a complication?

Not everything that goes wrong is a medical error for which the physician is to blame. To assess if a medical error has been committed, we engage a medical advisor. A physician will have to assess if due care has been exercised in your treatment and if errors have been committed. Based on the medical file, the medical advisor will investigate if there are indications for a medical error. This is a medical feasibility study.

Based on the medical advice, we consult with you. There are roughly two possible results:

1. The medical advisor states that there are no indications for a medical error. In that case, we advise against going ahead with the case.
2. The medical advisor states that there are indications for a medical error. In that case, we will hold the physician or the hospital liable.
